Seems like every time I do a Google search for something, one of your web pages pop up. You sure have a lot of web pages. I was looking up “damn taxes” and your web page was number four on the list.

Mr. Esq. you’re pretty smart, being that you hold an A.S. in Philosophy and you are an economics major, but I have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. I know from past experiences within my family that the government does not stop traffic to make sure you are paying taxes on your license renewals and tags, etc. They don’t receive much revenue from these taxes. They’re checking to make sure that you aren’t consuming any un-taxed liquor. They make a whole lot more money on liquor taxes than they make on license plate taxes.

My younger brother, Bubba Joe Johnson, had to spend 11 months and 29 days in the Bristol County jail because he was consuming some un-taxed joy juice that he bought in Kentucky. He had expired license plates on the truck and he left his drivers licenses back at the house, but they only charged him with the possession of un-taxed liquor. One of my older brothers, Bobby Rae, told Bubba Joe to always pour any un-taxed joy juice into a bottle of good ole Tennessee made whiskey, such as Jack Daniels or George Dickel. Bobby Rae told Bubba Joe to also add some caramel food coloring and make sure to leave the tax sticker on the bottle. But no, Bubba Joe thinks he’s smarter than Bobby Rae and he had to pay the price for his stupidity.

So you see Mr. Esq. they don’t stop you in Tennessee for not paying taxes for license renewals, tags, etc., that’s just an excuse to stop you. They want to make sure you aren’t consuming un-taxed liquor in Tennessee that you purchased in another state. They don’t care about your tags and licenses; the big money is in liquor taxes.
