New York has ridiculous gun laws, as evidenced here:
Burress, 32, pleaded guilty in August to a weapons charge stemming from a shooting incident at a nightclub last year. He pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon and agreed to serve two years under a plea agreement.
The former New York Giants wide receiver accidentally shot himself in the leg with a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol he was carrying in his waistband. The incident occurred November 29, 2008, in the VIP area of the Latin Quarter nightclub in Manhattan.

I am very pro-gun control, and even I have to admit 2 years is pretty steep. He injured himself, not somebody else. The fact that rules vary so much state to state shows just how screwy the system is. There are people who go to jail for manslaughter who get 2 years… it doesn’t feel quite right. Can someone explain?

That is almost a communist state! 2 years for shooting yourself with your gun. How stupid. Minor infraction for firing a gun in public should be the maximum charge, come on New York join America! Our forfathers would be appalled at such state control.
