…and something Aunt B. would most definitely enjoy reading about.
So today outside the KUC (Keathley University Center) there was a man screaming out random bible verses; next to this man were people holding up signs saying akin to ‘homosexuality is not a sin’ etc, etc. After scooping by brain up off the sidewalk from the ‘what the hell’ moment I just experienced, I left to go eat lunch.
Whilst eating I thought about the whole thing. I came to realise that this man had strategically picked MTSU as his ‘evangelical’ target, to ‘spread the news of sin’ and such. I had decided, because of the obvious, that the people protesting the pseudo-evangelist were doing just what the pseudo-evangelist wanted, i.e. confronting him and creating a public spectacle for him to spread his message. The best thing for the protesters to have done would have been to ignore the pseudo-evangelist. If people ignore the Gideons, surely they can ignore this man.
So, I returned from lunch—and lo and behold the man was gone. I had heard some other students talking, and apparently at some point the pseudo-evangelist held a jar with a foetus in it.
Personally, I think that these kind of people give Christians a bad name. What kind of crazy man runs around with a dead baby? It seems pretty clear to me that this man was most definitely not spreading the “good news of Jesus Christ”—for this man focused not on Godly things but upon human things, i.e. the moral failings of man.
[And please, do not for a minute begin to think of me as a "liberal Christian," for I most certainly am not; there is hardly anything about me that is 'liberal.']
UPDATE: Apparently, the man did not hold a jar with a foetus; apparently it was a doll or something.
More on the story here.
