Gordon to Retire; GOP Hoedown in TN-6?

Bart Gordon of Tennessee’s 6th congressional district will not run for re-election in 2010.

Jim Tracy is scheduled to announce his candidacy for Gordon’s seat later today, joining Dave Evans and Lou Ann Zelenik.

There is also the possibility of State Sen. Bill Ketron and State Sen. Diane Black of joining the race.

Regardless of the GOP primary situation, the 6th district will turn red. In the last election, Gordon lost 66,000 votes to a non-viable, independent candidate. The fact that the district will turn red, however, is not necessarily a good thing. It all depends on who wins the seat and whether or not that person believes in limited government or simply clamours for votes.
